On Saturday, May 16th, the FHMGC kicked off our season with the Spring Handicap tournament.  A total of 48 golfers, including 13 new members, welcomed sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s.  The FHMGC Board of Directors wishes to thank everyone for their patience, flexibility, and understanding as we quickly altered our normal tournament procedures to adapt to the COVID-19 (Social Distancing) requirements.

In the “A” Flight, Kreg Keeney fired a Net 70 (76 gross) to capture Low Net and earn $20.00.  Jim Simanski captured 2nd Net ($15.00) with a Net score of 72.  Joel Gersen and Chris Matthai both posted net 72s and captured 3rd and 4th place ($10.00 each).  In the gross division, Mike Curtis shot an outstanding 69 and earned the $20.00 first place low gross prize.

In the “B” Flight, Greg “G-man” Lawson posted a solid Net 71 (79 gross) to capture Low Net and earn the $20.00 first prize.  Rob Parent, one of our new members, captured 2nd Net ($15.00) with a net score of 72.  Emory Brown (net 72, $10.00) and new member Anthony DeBraccio (net 73, $10.00) captured 3rd and 4th place in the net division.  In the gross division, Chad Eskildsen (new dual member) shot a 79 to capture the $20.00 prize.

In the “C” Flight, Paul Christensen carded a net 70 (94 gross) to capture Low Net and collect the $20.00 prize.  Christopher Dikes, one of our new members, posted a net 74 to earn  2nd Net and the $15.00 prize.  Gary Burgan (net 75, $10.00) and John Shinners (net 76, $10.00) captured 3rd and 4th place respectively.  In the gross division, Dean Fox shot an impressive 83, which included a 9 on the par 5 twelfth hole, to capture low gross and collect $20.00 in earnings.

A big thank you to Mike McDonald (Tournament Chairmen) and Jim Simanski (Asst Chairman) for their superb efforts in putting together Saturday’s event and ensuring good fun was had by all.  In addition to the Tournament Directors, Mike Curtis and Joe Alllulis provided an exceptional amount of support during the strategy planning session and executing a safe plan following CDC and USGA guidelines.  Joe and Mike were also responsible for developing  and executing a scoring strategy.  Without the tremendous support from the FHMGC membership, this event would not had been a success.

As a reminder, the top 32 net scores from Saturday will also qualify for our upcoming event, the Match Play championship.  Please be on the lookout for an email from Bill Polinsky for specifics regarding this event.

Great news! Governor Larry Hogan is allowing golf courses statewide to open ahead of stage one of the Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery Plan. Fox Hollow, Greystone and Rocky Point will open on Friday, May 8th followed by Diamond Ridge and the Woodlands on May 9th. Tee times will open for online booking at 5 p.m. today (May 6th).

During this phase, it will be necessary to take precautions to promote social distancing and to prevent large indoor gatherings. Therefore, Baltimore County Golf is taking the following steps, including but not limited to:

Tee Times: Time intervals at all courses are 14 minutes apart. Holding to this interval will be strictly enforced daily.
Driving Ranges: Ranges will be open but every other hitting station will be available to promote social distancing.
Payment Options: ONLY credit cards will be accepted at the course. No cash payments accepted.
Clubhouse Access: Limited access to the clubhouses will be available. ALL Golfers MUST wear a mask when entering the clubhouse.
Food and Beverage: Limited food and beverage will be available daily. This will include soft drinks, beer, snacks, candy bars and possibly pre-wrapped. sandwiches
Golf Carts: Each person will be assigned their own golf cart. If you are playing with immediate family and live in the same house, you may ride in the same cart.
Social Distancing: Golfers are asked to remain 6’ from other players, not gather in groups of more than 10 and exit the property following their round of golf.
Pace of Play: With 14 minute tee time intervals and each player having their own cart, pace of play is expected to be 4 hours or less to complete the round.
Scorecards: Scorecards are available at the course but can also be printed by clicking below:

Diamond RidgeFox HollowGreystoneRocky PointThe Woodlands

On-Course: For the safety of all players, there will be no water coolers, rakes or ball washers available. In addition, there will not be a Marshal on the course and players are asked not to remove the flagstick. (a device has been inserted in the cup that only allows the ball to drop 1” below the cup edge)
Rental Clubs: Rental Clubs are currently not available.
Practice Greens: The practice greens will not have holes cut or pins placed on them but remain open for practice.
Equipment: The BCG Staff will not be handling players equipment. It is up to the player to place their clubs on their cart and remove them. In addition, each player is requested to throw all trash away at the conclusion of their round.
Reduced Hours: Fox Hollow Training Center (typically open until 10pm this time of year) will be closing daily at 8pm with last buckets sold at 7:15pm.
Greystone Grille: Greystone Grille will be offering a carry-out menu beginning May 7th. For more information, please call the Grille directly at 410.887.4653 x-1121.
Instruction/Club Fitting: These services will be available, but will maintain 6’ distancing during the session.

The staff at the courses will be sanitizing high traffic areas, golf carts, doors and credit card machines often for the safety of our guests. Please remember, the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing and while our operation is open, it is very limited relative to our normal offering. Please enjoy our courses and your time at our facilities.

If you have any questions, please contact the golf shops directly for more information at 410-887-GOLF(4653). We are excited to open our gates for our golfers. We can't wait to see everyone on the course again!

Pine Ridge Golf Club Reciprocal Membership

Welcome to the 2020 golf season. This year the FHMGC Board of Directors (BOD) and the Pine Ridge Golf Club (PRGC) BOD decided, the continuation to allow Fox Hollow Golf Club members to play in Pine Ridge tournaments and to allow Pine Ridge Golf Club members to play in Fox Hollow tournaments for a nominal fee of $50 for the entire 2020 season.  For the Fox Hollow members to participate in this reciprocal arrangement, a Fox Hollow member only needs to complete the PRGC application available at PRGC Application and send a $50 check to the recipient noted on the application. The PRGC 2020 schedule is included in the application. For additional information about the Pine Ridge Golf Club please email Bill Gosnell at or call him at 443-250-0343.

The Fox Hollow Cup is a season long competition where you are awarded points for each tournament you play in based upon your finish. Standings will be posted here after each tournament.

Regular season will end after the away tournament. The top 16 earn the right to receive points during the Fall Handicap. The top 8 after the Fall Handicap may compete in the finals concurrent with the turkey shoot. (Tournament is still open to all whether in the top 16/8 or not. This is a separate competition).

New for 2020- EVERYONE in the top 8 could win regardless of points. Stroke adjustments will be made to give an advantage to the higher finishers but it will still all come down to the last tournament.

Contact Joe Allulis with any questions.
